A silly little blog for me to drop the excrement of my mind.

So, the new JU is here.  Lest I sound alarmist, I won't say what I really think.  SanChonino knows.  However, I am having some issues.  Okay, one big issue.  One that has prevented me from even having the slightest desire to come here.  One that will, ultimately, result in my permanent exodus from this site if I cannot discover a remedy.

There it is.  Every page I navigate to with Internet Explorer (or Maxthon in this case) I get this dialog.  I have not idea why.  It never comes up for any other page.  It doesn't matter if I am already logged in.  I am afronted with this dialog.  Using it to log in does no good.  I still reappears for every page, rendering my time at JU to simply be one huge exercise in frustration.  Now, this does not appear when I use Firefox.  However, the great, wonderful, new, fancy, BROKEN rich text editor fields we now have don't allow copying and pasting in Firefox.  Brilliant.

So, any ideas?  As I mentioned, if I can't find a solution, I will just have to up and leave this site.  This sort of aggravation just isn't worth it.

Edit:  It would appear that this is actually an issue with Maxthon browser (a front end for IE).  Odd that it happens with Maxthon, but no with IE.  Sorry for the false alarm.

Have you set the proper permissions in your firewall (ie: 'always allow this program to connect to the internet?)

I don't use a software firewall.  I use a hardware firewall.  I don't think that is the issue.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

I hope some weeny can figure it out, Dev, I'd miss your blog...even though you don't post often enough!

That is kind of you LW.  The truth is, this issue is the reason I haven't posted since the new site went up.  I promise, if this went away, I would be much more active.  It just becomes such a hassle.

I'll help with the bumpage. I'd hate to see you go, bro, but I'd go too if that was happening to me.

Nice choice of WB, though, I'm using the same right now.

It's a terrible time to post it though, Dev.

That it is.  I don't disagree.  Unfortunately, I just haven't had much of any time lately.  Being on the Trauma service in prime skiing/snowboarding/snowmobile accident time keeps you hoping.

I'd hate to see you go, bro,

I won't lie, I would like to start blogging some more.  But this is just so aggravating.  And I am not about to perform a clean reinstall of Windows to figure it out.  Perhaps Opera would work as a browser.  It just really rubs me the wrong way that I would have to install a different browser just to blog.

Well, well, well.  It would appear that this is, in fact, not an issue with Internet Explorer afterall.  It is an issue with Maxthon.  Odd.  I have never seen this before.  I am going to have to dig around with the Maxthon options and see if I can find something.

I was just about to suggest that you try it in IE.  I doubt that we have ever tested with Maxthon since our user stats never even have enough users of it to register it as being used for viewing our sites.  IE and Firefox should be fine.

That dialog looks like it is trying to log you into the site itself as if you were trying to admin it.  So, I would say your browser is somehow treating it as a site that you have access to for some reason.  I'm not familiar with it enough to even guess, though.

I did some digging around in the Maxthon options, couldn't find anything that seemed to affect it.  I changed some options that appeared to have the slightest chance of affecting this, but no change.  Oh well.  I suppose I will just have to use IE or Firefox, though it bugs that the text editor in Firefox doesn't allow pasting.

While I understand that, it is sort of funny, simply because WC has a skin section for Maxthon, and helped with the Maxthon skin contest.

Yeah, I agree.  It does seem odd.  But, we just looked at the stats on WC, and there was at the max 30 people using it in the past 12 months while visiting our sites....so...it just didn't make it into the test matrix

And a third of those were just BlueDev from different computers . . .
