A silly little blog for me to drop the excrement of my mind.

I popped my new Fates Warning CD in the home stereo today to give it a spin there. Jessica loves to dance, and loves "rock 'n roll", so she immediately jumped off the chair and started jumping around, crazy as could be. It was hilarious, especially seeing her try to dance to the beat of progressive metal (for those who aren't familiar, the genre is well known for weird time signatures and sudden and frequent changes in time sig).

Aubrey, sitting on the couch, saw her sister having fun and decided she wanted to have some fun as well. She hopped off the couch and got down on the floor. She stood there, watching her sister be a maniac for a minute. Then she did something, well, odd.

She leaned forward, put both hands on the floor, and put her butt up in the air, stinkbug style.

Since she was facing me directly it was a bit tough to see exactly what was going on. She would stand like that, bent over for a few seconds, then stand back up, grin like crazy, laugh, then do it again. The next time she leaned over I moved so I could see it from the side. Then it hit me.

She was dancing.

Yep, so that she could lift her feet up off the ground, and move them as fast as her big sister, she was leaning over, supporting herself with her hands, and then going crazy with her feet. I couldn't stop laughing. And this just made her that much more excited to give it a go. Later tonight I told Lissa about it and low an behold, Aubrey went at it again.

We were rolling.

Oh that's so cool!!!!!!!!!

Your daughters sound gorgeous

Elana does that too but I don't think she's dancing - more like balancing - she looks through her legs I get so scared she's going to do a somersault (sp)

It really was hilarious. I have never seen her do this before, neither has my wife. So it would appear this was just something she figured out today. We had a good laugh.

That's funny! Adults already have learned what's consider dancing, etc. It's something they know and perhaps taken for granted. However, it's fascinating to see a little kid who are just learning how to get by in the world. For them, it's something new and exciting. For your daughter, it happened to be dancing. But it is fun watching them learn, though.

Karma-Jessica is 5 and Aubrey will be two in about 3 months.

I am going to try to get this on video tonight. If I do manage to get it I will post a link for anyone who is interested. It really is great to watch.

Kids are so much fun! If you do get it on tape, save it for them and show it to them when they are teenagers and see how they react!
