Upload your photos--Testing Imageshack

So I know that there are a few people here who have been posting photos. And I know that some of them (wink wink chiprj) are hoping the host they are using doesn't figure out they are hotlinking the photos. In an effort to help us all out I registered at Imageshack.us and tried uploading a photo to see how the service is. And I am pretty impressed so far. Here are the results:
If everything works out when I hit submit there should be first a small thumbnail that opens a new page with the photo, and below that should be the photo itself. Lets hope this works!
BTW, this is a shot of my two sisters and our youngest daughter when they were out here visiting us a couple of months ago.
Edit: It would appear this was a success! The thumbnail option could be great for threads with multiple images (makes it more 56k friendly), and the full image posting looks fine as well. Hope this helps someone out!

I don't see how this service will last but it seems pretty easy to use and effective......

I have actually seen it used in countless other forums, especially for the thumbnail feature, so I don't see us putting too great of a strain on it. I think there are numerous folks here who already have their own webspace and use that (as I do). This is mainly for those who want something easy to use and free.

Yes but what's their business model?
Not exactly sure how to best answer that Draginol. Their site does have ads from Google on it. If you click on the thumbnail to go to the full version you also have Google text ads to deal with. They accept donations via PayPal, and you can do zip uploading (up to 5 megs per zip file) of groups of files. This is only allowed a certain number of times before you have to purchase more zip uploading credits.
As far as I can tell from the site that is about it. To be honest I don't know how long it has been around and don't know how long it will last, but for the time being seems a reasonable option for folks who want to upload photos. Of course I would always recommend they keep copies themselves so if something happens to the service they don't actually lose anything.

Interesting and good to know. One of these days, if they haven't shut down by the time I get to it, I'll see if I can try some pictures out.

Yeah. I think I am going to take advantage of the thumbnail feature. Very handy. I usually try to make my own thumbnails, and when I am writing an article in HTML I will host on my own site, but for quick and dirty picture posting this appears to be a good option.
