A silly little blog for me to drop the excrement of my mind.
Pun intended

The stars aligned, the gods smiles, and the baby-sitter WAS, in fact, planning on coming.

We got to go to "The Incredibles". Now I realize that for many of you going to a movie probably seems a silly little thing, a mere trifle and not worth writing about. But hey, this is only the fourth movie my wife and I have seen in theaters this years, so every one is a bit of a big deal for us. Sometimes we feel as though we wasted our time and money. Not last night.

As we left the theater my wife turned to me and said "That was worth every penny".

"The Incredibles" is just that. Incredible. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a while (realize though that I am an easy critic). It did exactly what I hoped it would do: made me laugh, had me tense, and left me feeling great with a huge grin on my face. The animation was spectacular (though do we really expect anything less from Pixar?). The story, while not pushing any new ground, was still interesting and well written. The voices were perfect, spot on for every character. The action was astoundingly good, taking full advantage of the power of animation to depict things that couldn't be done otherwise (and not having it feel completely out of place as CGI often does).

This was one movie I will be going back to see, and one that entertained me completely from the first scene to the last. Highly recommended.

I am shamelessly bumping my own thread here because I would love to hear from anyone else who saw the movie over the weekend. The other student who works in my lab saw it and felt the same way I did about it. Fantastic.

Anyone?

SPC Nobody Special and I saw it Saturday after I got out of work. We really enjoyed it too, and SPC Nbs is quite a critic. Not of this one, though.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, go!

I absolutely loved it! I got in to see it on Saturday, barely got a ticket before the rest of the showings for the entire day sold out. The visuals were stellar, there were points I forgot I was watching an animated film (any of the island beach scenes with water and such... looked too real). The characters were really well animated and had amazing voice actors (Jason Lee rocks... no question about it). The story, while nothing groundbreaking was solid, fun and well paced. It's obvious they wanted to show off just what they were capable of, and it's stunning to see the difference between the Incredibles and Toy Story. It's like the difference between stick figures and a Disney film (at their height... not the recent crap).

My *only* complaint was I felt Syndrome was underdeveloped... He had so much potential, and he just wasn't used enough. Same with Frozone. Great character, too little screen time.

Overall though, fantastic! I definitely plan on getting it on DVD.

Next on my list... The Polar Express. The theater just up the street for me is opening their 3D IMAX screen starting with this movie... it's going to rock. I was grinning ear to ear like a moron during the trailer.

I agree LadyCleve--Go see this movie. I already look forward to the DVD so I can watch it whenever I want.

Zoomba--I agree about Frozone. What I really think would have been interesting was to see him over helping take care of the baby. I think that could have offered some funny moments. But that would have made him coming in to help at the end tough I suppose. The Polar Express looks interesting as well. We will be seing that one for sure.

I want to go now even more. H saw it over the weekend with my dad but I haven't yet. And frankly I'm holding out for Bridget Jones's Diary 2 this weekend. Mmm. Colin Firth.
