The commercials looked bizarre.  And after my disappointment with last week's episode I went into this one a little apprehensive.

No need.  It was a good one and a lot of fun to boot.

The episode starts off with a man, speaking Russian, watching some guards and a truck pull up to a facility.  Suddenly his car comes racing out of hiding, running one guard over, his automatic weapon taking care of the rest.  From the back of the truck he removes a highly technical looking piece of equipment.  He loads it up and drives off, leaving the dead bodies behind him.  As his vehicle pulls up to a very suburban looking house, he calmly gets out of the car, is greeted by a very Stepford looking wife, and simply responds the work was a little busy.

Very interesting.

Back at APO we find out the man is an important member in a Russian organization known as The October Contingent.  We also discover what he had stolen.  A reusable EMP device with a 10 mile radius.  As any good geek would know, the idea behind any sort of EMP device is that it sends out a massive electro-magnetic pulse that fries any electrical equipment in the vicinity.  With a 10 mile radius and the ability to be used over and over, this could do some serious damage in the middle of an urban center.

Sydney and Vaughn have to pose as a couple (of Russian operatives that had been contacted to work with the organization, but are now in a German prison).  They meet at the appointed time and are taken to their new "home" in psycho, pseudo-suburbia.  The are told they have to act like Americans in every way.  At a party they meet their neighbors, scoundrels and criminals every one.  Some tense moments, near exposures and having to battle another couple to be "accepted" into the community unearth just how bizarre this whole operation truly is.

In the meantime Jack has made contact with a Russian acquaintance, planning to have some sort of backup if Sydney and Vaughn need it.  The demand of his acquaintance is simply some old books of Irina's.  Jack knows they wouldn't want them if there wasn't something still important.  So he sets Marshall to finding out what that is.  Of course, Marshall is up to the task and discovers one extra period that contains a code.  Jack dismisses the code, gives up the books, but from a final conversation with Sloane it is obvious something is up. 

While working away, Marshall suddenly sees that the couple that Syd and Vaughn are supposed to be were just moved.  He reports this to Sloand, who acts fine with it, until Marshall emphasizes that the Germans broadcast this to just about everyone, blowing Sydney and Vaughn's cover.  Back in psychosuburbia their cover is blown and they fight their way free from the house, finally resorting to activating the EMP charge to take care of a helicopter that is following them.  Once again, a narrow escape.

The crazy suburbia aspect was fun and, while a little out there still, not nearly so bad as last week's Ice 5 joke.  The tension between Sydney and Vaughn while being "married" made no sense to me, other than to build up to a "moment" between them later in the show.  Sort of pointless there.  It was nice to see Jack and Sloane conspiring together again.  Overall, it was an enjoyable episode.  Though with only a couple minutes left I thought we were going to get a cliffhanger.  Oh well.  Hopefully soon.
