Just dropped by Dreamtheater.net (looking forward to their new album!) and saw the press release for GIGANTOUR 2005. Heh, silly name, probably a silly tour. Then I looked at the bands.
Megadeth, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Nevermore.
Holy crap. Holy, stinking crap.
With the exception of Fear Factory (I am not sufficiently familiar with them), those are some amazingly talented, rocking metal bands. Dave Mustaine, long maligned for getting the boot from Metallica, clearly demonstrated with the most recent Deth release 'The System Has Failed' that he can play metal. Metallica clearly lost it with 'St. Anger', but Mustaine is still shredding.
Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands, and their technical skill is simply stunning (though every once in a while technical virtuosity wins over soul in their music). They are simply amazing, and the live releases I have listened to demonstrate they have a fantastic ability to put on a great live show.
And Nevermore, well, Warrell Dane is simply one of the most impressive metal vocalists ever. Ever.
Seeing them all live would be a mind blowing concert. And considering Mustaine (who organized the show) says tickets will be $35, sounds like an amazing show. Wow.
