-or- I am going to come up with something to put here for every entry I write
I just finished writing my (rather lengthy) "analysis" of "A Twist of Fate". I love this album. But why did I spend a little bit every day for the past week coming up with something to write about it? Especially considering it is long enough (and perhaps an obscure enough artist) that I doubt many will even read the full article, or comment.
Because it helped me I suppose.
In thinking through things critically enough to write such a verbose article I really began to internalize the music I was listening to. I learned more about it because I was listening actively, not passively. And that all stemmed from the fact that I was writing about what I was hearing. Writing gives us an opportunity to think more profoundly about what we are trying to say. It allows us to concentrate, edit, analyze, and ultimately organize our own thoughts so they may be coherent and informative for others who may stumble across them.
Or not.
Maybe some of us just need a toilet for our verbal excrement, and writing offers that as well. We can effectively take a dump, hit submit and flush it away. Either way it helps us. We can better organize and analyze our thoughts or we can toss out that uncomfortable jumble of detritus, all through writing. And somehow, I suppose we all feel a little better. Interesting.
