A few years ago, a game came along that got pretty great reviews . It also had pretty steep system requirements, as is often the case with AAA first-person shooter titles. I knew my rig at the time wouldn't run it well, so never did have a chance to check it out. As years went on and I got a new system that could handle the game I kept meaning to go back and revisit it. Time has passed and it is one of those games I just never did get around to playing. Until now, tha...
I used to be a gamer. I used to play some PC game just about every day, for an hour or two at least when time allowed. I enjoyed it, stayed pretty current on what titles were coming out when, snagged just about every demo out there, and felt that, while not as hard core as some, I had my finger on the pulse of PC gaming. But I admit, I arrived on the scene late. I missed out on a lot of what are considered really classic games, and this is most pronounced in the turn based strategy realm (TBS). ...
On numerous occasions (when I used to frequent game forums) I often saw it said that gaming is a privilege, not a right. This was often pulled out when some infantile poster was whining about the price of games, that they couldn't afford the appropriate hardware, or when they talked about piracy. In those cases, sure, I agree. Gaming isn't a right that we all should have. I don't think we should just be able to download (for free) any game we want. And people whining about not being ...
I recently received via email my issue of the Bioware newsletter. Inside was a pretty big announcement. Bioware is releasing some new modules for Neverwinter Nights. Here is the catch. They are charging for them. Between $5-$8 US dollars for these additional modules is the price. And some gamers are up in arms over this. As far as I can remember, Neverwinter Nights wasn't really focusing on the SP aspect of CRPG gaming. Sure, they included a SP campaign in the original package, an...
I love PC gaming. Really. I do. I promise. Or am I just trying to convince myself? Cause, see, I really don't play games that much anymore. I try to. I download some demos these days, but many I cancel even before I finish downloading the file. Not too long ago I downloaded anything and everything and at least gave it a go. One of my favorite ridiculous things to do was to go to the local EB Games or Gamestops and browse games. Window shopping for pimply faced geeks, if you would....
I have been lucky. Very lucky according to the buzz on the internet. I love gaming on my PC. There are lots of great games out there, with great developers behind them who have put lots of time and effort into making a quality PC title for me and others to enjoy. They work hard to make a quality product and we, as the consumers, go out and spend good money (up to $50) for what we anticipate to be many hours of interactive fun. We run home, crack the box open (hoping to find at least a ...
Epic today released what they are calling a "beta" demo for their upcoming first person shooter Unreal Tournament 2004 (henceforth to be known as UT2004). I had actually never played the original Unreal Tournament until the release of the UT2003 demo a while back. I found it so incredibly fun that I rushed out and purchased a copy of the original, then purchased the newer version a little while after release. And today Epic has cemented in my mind one simple fact. Yes, I will be buying yet...
